Jessica Hwang writes mystery, crime and literary fiction. Her fiction has appeared in Mystery Magazine, Tough Crime Magazine, Uncharted, Bright Flash Literary Review, Reservoir Road Literary Review, Failbetter, Wilderness House Literary Review, Shotgun Honey, Samjoko, Moss Puppy Magazine, Pembroke Magazine, Grey Sparrow Journal, The Writing Disorder, Dream Noir, Rundelania, Ponder Review, MSU Roadrunner Review, The Rockford Review, Hidden Peak Press, and The Thieving Magpie and is forthcoming in Last Syllable and Grub Street Literary Magazine. Her stories have been longlisted for Litmag's Anton Chekhov Award for Flash Fiction in 2022 and The Masters Review 2022 Flash Fiction Contest. Her short story A Place like You was a finalist for the Bellingham Review's Tobias Wolff Award for Fiction in 2022. Her short story Ghosts was nominated by the editors of Tough Crime Magazine for the 2023 Best American Mystery and Suspense and Best American Short Stories anthologies, and her flash fiction piece Baby was nominated for the 2023 Best of the Net Anthology.
Jessica lives in Minnesota with her husband and dogs. She loves writing, reading, and all things canine, and is currently working on a mystery novel featuring PI Collin Reneir and his dog, Daisy, who appeared in a flash fiction piece in the winter-spring edition of The Rockford Review.
